I am for free enterprise except in sports

I have no problem with the free enterprise.... I believe that we should let capitalism go as fast and long as it can because we all benefit from that kind of a format.... That is with everything but sports.... I would love if atheletes were put on a salary plan that works for the owner, athletes, but especially for the consumer.... If a great athlete was to make for example $500,000 a year then they would be able to live a comfortable life and the owner could make the profit that they see that they need to make to keep the product on the field and a family could afford to go to the games because the seats would be a lot less expensive.... What a crime that an uneducated gifted athlete is burden with making so much money that they have no concept of responsibility.... You see athletes all the time spending money wrecklessly and for what, self indulgence to the point that there is no control and people's lives are destroyed.... I will grant you that there special skills should allow them to live very comfortably, but what can the typical athlete do with 20 million a year.... I know they say that they can provide for there family properly, but give me a break, their children seem to be bogged down with the molasses of wealth that will never give them any indication to reality.... Now if an athlete invests his money or starts a new business and is making more money that way then I say have at it you have earn everything you have gotten with your risk and work.... But an athlete generally speaking is a person who has never really had to figure life out so why don't we limit there finances to a sum that benefits everyone and yet allows them to be able to still worry about budgeting and making correct choices on how they spend there money..... Bill Gates can make as much money as he can because he has really created jobs, and opportunities galore.... Athletes entertain, owners invest and the public needs it, but should not be metaphorically bleed in it.... My dad took me to 32 Laker games back in 1963 on a barbers's income.... It cost 75 cents for the game and a dollar to park.... Today I am fortunate because I spend most of my time watching ball games on HD TV with my children.... But it just worries me that the NFL owners might possibly make football games paid per viewbecause they are trying to make the proper ammount of profit on their investment.... And yet the owners pay the athletes and the beat goes on.... I want to warn the owners though, I used to be an advid boxing fan.... I use to watch all of the championship fights, but since they have been put on Pay Per View, I have stopped watching and now I really don't care who is doing what in the fight world.... Thank goodness for ESPN Classic channel so I can get my boxing fix by seeing the likes of Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano, Muhammed Ali, Joe Frasier and others... That's really not so bad....If football doesn't watch itself, I will end up watching Joe Montanna and John Elway again on the classics and I will not know who is playing today.... This fan really can say enough is enough if I get pushed hard enough..... The world is topsy turvey though, because I even live at a time that many people view the Constitution as burden of a document and wants to change it or get rid of it, so I will strap my seat belt and get ready for the ride in the future...... Are they really Little Leaguers?

My goodness I watched the Chula Vista team play in the Little League World Series because my mom really gets into it... Is it true that Little Leaguers are taking steroids.... I saw some really big kids and one of them had a shadow on his face and looks like he is ready to jump into big leagues as soon as he is done with the World Series in Williamsport, Penn.... I believe they all got their birth certificates from the same place that President Obama did... I'm not sure but I think we are taking winning way over the top..... Now, everyone is trying to keep up with the old Taiwan teams..... I am taking a trip to Utah in one month and I am hoping that I get to see my Nephews son play football and I keep thinking I am going to see cute little 12 year old bump each other around, but now I am wondering if I am going to see monsters crashing into each other.... And what is with these traveling teams.... Instead of playing with players around the block or town, they now travel out of state to compete with other crazy travel teams and for what!.... I am really thankful that my kids are raised and I beg of them not to tell me who their kids are playing and don't tell me that the kid with a goatee is only 9 years old.... I am very perplexed with the whole mess.... So long!

We are a fickle bunch, us sports fans

I hated Barry Bonds because he obviously took steroids to eventually replace a true hero of mine, Hank Aaron.... Hank did it right, so I must root against Barry Bonds... And yet I like the Angels and I am worried that maybe Vladimir Guerrero is losing it and maybe needs some help, you know what I mean, I just can't bring myself to say it....A Rod is a jerk but secretly a few years ago I was hoping we would land him rather than the Yankees.... I hate the Yankees and yet when I selected Chien-Ming Wang for my fantasy team I felt a desperation that he shut out the other team and the Yankees must win.... Huh?.... How can that be.... Calipari and the University of Memphis basketball team are slime for the way they put together their basketball team and yet I found it fascinating how Tarkanien at UNLV put together the amazing teams they did and never got caught.... Alabama football team is in trouble for recruting violations, great, stick it to them, but don't you dare snoop around with USC Trojans and PLEASE, Pete Carroll has know idea what happen in the Reggie Bush incident..... It's a good thing that sports are not religion because we are all hypocrites when it comes to the teams we hate compared to the teams we love.... If we are not going to have a college football playoff system then how about making conferences play against each other like they do in basketball.... Have the SEC play the Big 10 and set up games where the 1st place team the year before plays the first place team from the other conference and go right down the schools until you have a last place team playing a last place team, then we will be able to have a clear picture on which team really is the best..... They can play four non conference games and compete against four different conferences.... But dang it, that would make to much sense and our poor little SEC might lose a game and not have their automatic bid to the National Championship game...... Why in the heck would North Carolina, UCLA, Duke, and Kentucky in basketball world dare to give schools like Gonzaga a chance to win the National Championship, it's obvious that they are behind the times and not as sophisticated as College football..... Michael Vick plays tomorrow, I bet the Dawg has a pretty good game.... Because the Dawg is playiny the cats (Jaguars) and my money is on the Dawg.... I am terrible and believe it or not I feel kind of bad for saying it, but not that bad to erase it..... Have fun in the toy store tonight with all your sports watching....

Michael Vick, again?

Michael Vick, drinks an alcohol drink at the airport.... Is this really a big deal?... I do not drink alcohol, but I am sorry, people need to get a life, because he is a grown up and he did not break the law.... Give me a break are we going to be told when he swats a fly or squeezes a flea that happens to land on him.... But if I was Michael Vick I would have waited to have my drink in my own house.... I might be an idiot but all I care about is can he still throw a football and run through a swarm of mad eating defenders and can he leap over tall buildings.... Okay, I am an idiot because there is a part of me that hopes that he is successful because those PITA people really bugs me.... Whoops, I probably shouldn't have use the word BUGS me while I criticize the idiotic PITA people.... I did not go to pieces when David Winfield killed a seagull with his throw up in Toronto, nor did I feel bad for the bird who was stupid enough to swoop down and play chicken (Probably I shouldn't use the word Chicken) with Randy Johnson's fastball.... I wish that one of those dinasaur birds (If I had James Hartzell, my grandson here he would tell me what the birds name is) would fly over Pita's location and poop all over them.... Wow, I feel better now that I have taken out some of my frustrations on that organization.... Hey, it's horrible what Michael Vick did to those dogs but PITA makes it very difficult to come down hard on Michael.... Then there is Plaxico Burris pretending that he is Daffy Duck (Whoops, I used the word duck) and shoots himself with a concealed gun.... Oh my goodness he is so stupid.... If the Three Stooges were still around, he would have been the token black in their group and they would be the Four Stooges..... Are the Rockies going to catch the Dodgers.... Uhh, yea!!!!.... The Dodgers are falling to mediocrity fast and that is exactly where I thought they would be at the beginning of the season..... Good thing it is a long season so all things get balanced because if baseball was like football the Dodgers would have won the Super Bowl with their start.... The sleeper this year in football wll be the Houston Texans... Their defense is much improved and the teams in that division are all coming back to them as they are moving forward.... Will they make the Super Bowl, probably not but they will make hay in the playoffs.... If you bet your house on my opinion, don't come to me if you lose it.... Aren't you rooting for the little Tampa Bay Rays a little as they chase the Yankees and Red Sox.... They won't make it this year, but I am sure proud of them on scaring those big boys a little... Do you have a little less respect for Lebron James on not being a good sport or at least a good person and didn't Nike really blow it with ths slam dunk controversy.... I just wanted people to know that I like to talk basketball too, but it's just not in season at this time....

One Man's Opinion

Enough already with the preseason games.... I am thankful that we do not have a pro team in LA so I would be tempted to get season tickets and then have to find some sucker to take my tickets and go to the preseason games.... 2 should be the max on preseason games, but then again economics might dictate why we have those games, but are any of you watching it.... I once watched all of the games for fantasy purposes and I picked players who were running all over the field but when the season started they never played.... That was my worst fantasy year in picking my team... Sometimes ignorance is bliss.... Is it true that the Minor League baseball league known as the National League finally has a Major league team in St. Louis.... I know Philidephia won last year but come on do you really think they came from a Major League.... Anyone can win in a baseball game just ask Tommy Lasorda with his 1988 worlds championship team.... The big hitter on that team was Mickey Hatcher.... So, a blind squirrel really can find an acorn from time to time, but the National League has been so inferior for so long it is ridiculous.... Are the Angels the Braves from the American League.... They constantly win their pennant but get beaten quite handily in the playoffs, by anything that has a sox in it, namely Red and White.... They do have the Yankees number.... Believe me the Bronx Bombers do not want to play the Angels.... Have you notice that Manny Ramirez just isn't hitting as well since his two month rest.... I would sure love to see Roger Clements pitch after the so call 2 month layoff.... The Red Sox let him go at the time he was over the hill and did not expect him to hit the steroids (aledgely, ha! ha!) route.... This is the 20 year celebration, I know that it is an aniversery, but to me it is a celebration of Pete Rose being ban from baseball.... I loved watching him play, I hated the Big Red Machine but did admire them as a Dodger fan, but his arrogance and thumbing of his nose of the great sport of baseball by gambling on baseball was too much.... Let him sink to baseball hell....

One Man's Opinion

I love it when the leaves fall and a chill filters the air.... At that time life comes alive because it is football season.... That is "The Best Time of the Year"..... Not Christmas and definately not Spring or Summer..... Fall, leaning towards Winter is the time to rejoice.... Leaves springing from the trees is a sign of mourning because football is dead for a season.... I wonder if there are more people who are hoping that Brett Faurve takes a big sack and decide for good that he is through.... Or is he the All American kid who is looking for that last fling with high tide..... He will not be John Elway in my opinion.... John Elway convinced me how great he was when he allowed Terrell Davis to be the stud the year they won a Super Bowl.... John did only what was necessary to keep the chains moving.... I fear that Brett Faurve won't be able to control himself in big games and will sling the ball the way he did ten years earlier only to see it intercepted and take the Vikings out of the game.... The audible will kill the Vikings because instead of handing the ball to Adrian Peterson to gain two yards for a first down, Brett will throw the streak but will come up short.... Just as Lloyd Benson stated that he knew John F. Kennedy and Dan Quayle was no John F. Kennedy, well I know John Elway on the field and Brett Faurve is no John Elway..... I don't want dogs to ever get tortured, but if the liberals are able to state that a President having oral sex in the Oval office is only sex, well then I have the right to say that these were only dogs so let's give Michael Vick the opportunity to play football again in peace.... At least we are told that Michael will never do that despicable act again could we ever expect that President Clinton to ever stop having sex with other women besides his wife, uhhhhhh no!... I personally would not like to have T.O. on my team and would probably rather lose a few game without him than win a couple with him, but that said, I believe that Dallas is going to be hurt with his leaving and Buffalo will find themselves in the playoffs with T.O..... My college rankings are Florida #1 and USC is #2 and the rest of the nation can play for those other bowls that mean nothing.... I would like to know how the BCS could ever be so arrogant to say if you live west of the Mississippi River then your conference just cannot compete with the East.... The East will say, Oh, we will be kind to the PAC 10 because LA market is there and we will allow the Big 12 because they have Texas but the rest of you are not welcome.... That takes huge brass ones to be so arrogant.... I wish the PAC 10 and the Big 12 would tell the east that they will come up with the best of the west and dare them to bring the best of the east for a true championship game.... Hey, let the leaves fall, we are reborn again....

Fraudulent Claims, the SEC Annual Event

The SEC is at it again.... Thousands of fanatic reporters go to their media day and they try to decide who is going to win the National Championship.... Is it Florida again or will Alabama, LSU, heck they will even throw out Vanderbuilt to win the National Championship.... I will agree that the SEC can compete with any of the other conference, but why does the National Champion always have to start there... The lovely people down in the south use the same tactics that politicians will use and that is, attack the other conferences with a vicious intent and then take all of the brainless reporters down there and run with it through there media.... Hey, SEC, are you willing to play USC anywhere, anytime like Pete Carroll keeps stating.... Uhh, Auburn did it years back when they started the season as the #1 team in the nation and got shutout on their own field.... Ask Arkansas if they ever want to play them again.... While Arkansas was being beat like a high school team, they then competed quite well with the rest of the SEC teams.... The SEC spend uncountless hours trying to demean USC and make claims that if they were in the SEC they would be a .500 team.... Give me a break.... They may not go undefeated (see at least I can be reasonable) but I feel confident that they would make it to the SEC championship game and then after they won that game they would get their automatic bid to the National Championship game.... But, no, let's belittle the monster instead of confront it.... If the SEC is so powerful then why do you hide behind your mother's apron..... Hey, guess what, the Mountain West isn't afraid of you.... Has Alabama put University of Utah on the same list that USC is on, the let's belittle them and their conference, but let's not play them anymore.... Can you say COWARDS!!! Florida University is an unbelievable program after hiring, (ready for this Alabama/SEC) Urban Meyer from University of Utah.... West Coast football is now being celebrated in the SEC and watch the copycats try to duplicate their success.... Can you say Lane Kifflin?... Uhh, yea, he is an offensive coordinator at USC.... And you claim to be the almighty.... The only thing that you are the almighty with is your aility to out hype the BIG 12.... It is lucky that we don't have a playoff system, but then again it might be fun to see USC vs. University of Florida go head to head after going though a couple of grueling games with other great conferences who recieved a ligitimate chance to compete.... Be honest SEC you really don't want to see the result of that matchup, do you?!!!!!
